Guide to Massage Oils

Massage Oil…. Do you really need it to use it for a good massage? The answer is YES!

Massage oils come in different textures and dozens of scents. With the right consistency, oil can prevent friction, freeing your hands to effortlessly contour along your partners body, helping the giver focus on different areas that will allow the receiver to slide into relaxation, easing tension and stress or stimulate sensual arousal.

Massage Oils: Massage oils are nourishing and can condition the skin, leaving it feel soft, even after you rinse off. Most blends are formulated with natural oils such as almond, coconut, safflower and other seeds and nut oils. When choosing a massage oil the most important thing to consider is the ingredients. Pay close attention to any allergies you or your partner may have to these ingredients.

Having an allergic reaction to nuts and/or seeds when consumed, does not mean a reaction will occur when oils are applied to the skin. If you or your partner are allergic to any ingredients listed please use caution, preform a patch test on a small area of skin before applying to large areas of the body. If a reaction occurs we recommend switching to a silicone-based alternative.

Because massage oils have an oil base they won’t absorb into the skin, making them perfect for long lasting body massages, however oil based massage product should only be used externally. Oil degrades latex and should not be used as lubrication with condoms or latex products. We recommend using silicone or water-based lubricants on, around, and inside your sex bits.

Finding the right scent for the right occasion is the next step. Different scents are blended and paired to massage oils giving them the power to stimulate the sense of smell in new and exciting ways! Essential oil produce natural aromas, such as lavender, almond, mint, rosemary, and cedar blended perfectly for stimulation and relaxation. If you prefer sweet scents, we recommend fruit based blends such as, orange, lemon, and citrus to awaken and energize. Unscented massage oils are also a popular option, for those who have sensitivities to essential oils and/or fragrances. If you are looking to indulge your senses we recommend Kamasutra tranquillity kit, with 5 different aromatic blends in one kit, you are sure to have a favorite for every occasion.

Massage Candles: When lit, this candle melts into a warm, delicious smelling massage oil. Massage candles are formulated with a soy wax, which melts at a lower temperature than regular wax, which means it won’t harm or irritate your skin ( provided there isn’t a soy allergy ). Soy wax melts at lower temperature, and once melted becomes a warm oil that is used for massage.

We suggest lighting your massage candle before the massage, the flickering light can create the perfect romantic mood, the aromatic scents of essential oils will relax and soothe, and once the candle has a puddle of oil, simply blow out the flame, let cool for a moment until liquid is warm to the touch ( not hot) and pour on your lovers body.

Massage candles have emollients such as shea butter, coconut oil, and vitamin E. these ingredients help moisturize and condition skin leaving your body soft and glowing.

Flavored Massage Oils: For massages beyond the finger tips, flavored massage oils can be a tasty treat. Engaging your senses by adding tantalizing taste, and physical closeness of erotic massage. Which is why they are most often used during foreplay and to stimulate erogenous zones.

Specifically created with food-grade ingredients, they are edible, though using flavored oils in small areas is ideal because it is water soluble and contains glycerin, this type of oil will absorb quickly and become very sticky. Which can make it not so great as a lubrication.

Women who are sensitive to glycerin or prone to yeast infections should use sparingly around their bits. We suggest going with a natural or organic option such as Shunga Organica Massage Oil or Earthly body massage oil.

Warming Massage Oils: Warming massage oils are often oil-based with essential oils that create a warming sensation during the massage. Warming massage oils are heat activated, they gently warm up with the friction created during massage such as Intimate Earth Melt Warming Glide, other warming oils like Body heat that warm up from simply blowing against your partners skin. This is great to alleviate stress and pain, but can also be the extra heat needed to spicy up intimacy. Intimate Earth Melt Warming Glide

For sensitive skin we recommend staying away from scents such as cinnamon, and peppermint these essential oils have a tendency to irritate skin and cause a reaction. If these scents are preferred; apply oil to a small area of skin first, before using on the entire body. It is safe to use externally, but should be avoided and internally. If this is the desired sensation, a warming lubricant can be applied to sex bits for internal warming pleasure. Please reference Guide to lube.
